Goryukai Instructors 2008

Malcolm Crawford Sensei: 6th Dan IYAF, 6th Dan Instructor IYAF, Head Instructor (Chichester Dojo),BAB Qualified Coach (Level 3), Young People BAB.

The Head Instructor of Goryukai Aikido is Malcolm Crawford Sensei 6th Dan Yoshinkan Aikido.
Sensei Crawford started training with the Yoshinkan in 1970 under Edd Stratton. In 1974 the Honbu Dojo sent their own instructor to England, this was the formidable Yu Sensei. Sensei Crawford trained 5 days a week and all day Sunday at the time this was expected of all Yoshinkan Aikidoka. Self Defence Training as taught to the Japanese riot police was part of the curriculum (Now only practiced in Japan on instructors courses). Over his 35 years with Yoshinkan, Sensei Crawford has trained with all of the senior Honbu instructors and has taught at many national and international seminars. He was graded to Godan (5th Dan) by the chief technical director of the Yoshinkan Honbu dojo,Chida Sensei (8th Dan) in 1993, and has now been promoted to Rokdan (6th Dan) by Y. Shioda Kancho in Dec 07.

Jonz Wale Sensei: 3rd Dan IYAF, 3rd Dan Instructor IYAF (Heath Dojo),3rd Dan Go Ryu Kai, BAB Qualified Coach (Level 1), Young People BAB.

He started in Martial Arts at 7 training in Judo, and then at the age of 20 he took up traditional Japanese Jujitsu. After training in this he became very serious about the Japanese arts and more interestingly the modern art of Aikido.

Wale Sensei has also trained in other arts including Shorinji Kempo, Brazilian Jui-jitsu, boxing and Muay Thai Boxing.

 

After training in Tokyo, Japan for 3 years he became a qualified instructor when he completed the Senshusei course (International Instructors Course), training with the Tokyo Riot Police. Now he teaches at Goryukai Heath Dojo and Chitchester Dojo.

Jay Savery Sensei: 2nd Dan IYAF, 2nd Dan Instructor IYAF (Stafford Dojo),3rd Dan Go Ryu Kai, BAB Qualified Coach (Level 1), Young People BAB.

Started training in the Fighting Arts at the age of 7, with Judo. By the time he’d started his Aikido training in 1995 he’d already tried Boxing, Karate, Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun Kung Fu, and Unarmed Combat. When Savery Sensei started training in Aikido he was hooked. . Now he teaches at Goryukai Stafford Dojo.
